E-cars are not sustainable unless shared

The high fixed costs of cars create a financial disincentive to use other modes of transport. The fixed costs of electric cars are higher than fossil fuel cars, which means they undermine public transport more.  

Sharing access to a car on a pay-as-you-go basis overcomes this problem.
